Acne LED Blue Light Therapy
At TrueCare, we are proud to offer our patients Acne LED Blue Light Therapy – a gentle, non-invasive procedure designed to treat mild to moderate acne.
What is acne LED Light Therapy?
Acne LED Blue Light Therapy is an FDA-approved high-intensity blue light used to treat mild to moderate acne. The treatment works by killing known acne-causing bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) that can form within the sebaceous glands and cause breakouts.
An Overview of the Procedure
You can expect your blue Light Therapy treatments at TrueCare to be quick, easy and painless. During the 15-20 minute procedure, you will lie down while the light is placed on to your face. The procedure is repeated once a week for several weeks until optimal results are achieved, with most patients requiring maintenance treatments on an ongoing basis. The exact number of treatments you need will depend on a variety of factors, including the severity of your acne.
You should not experience any pain or discomfort during LED Blue Light Therapy, and there is no downtime associated with this procedure. You may experience some slight swelling, redness, stinging or burning in the treatment area, though it will be very minimal and subside quickly.
Results
After acne LED Light Therapy at TrueCare, you can expect to see smooth, beautiful skin when you look in the mirror. Not only will you see a significant decrease in current acne lesions, but the light will also work to prevent future breakouts. In addition, most patients experience a major improvement in their self-esteem, as they finally have the clear skin they’ve always wanted.

Are you a candidate for acne LED Blue Light Therapy?
As with all of our cosmetic treatments, acne LED Light Therapy candidacy is determined on an individual basis, following a thorough discussion of the patient’s cosmetic goals, concerns and desires. With that said, ideal candidates for this treatment are generally individuals who would like a gentle, non-invasive way to clear up their acne. It is not an ideal treatment option for patients who are on Accutane.
